Welcome! Bienvenida!
First off, if you are reading this, THANK YOU! I have wanted to share a part of me for so long.
While there is so much more to come, I am grateful for the start.
So to the point right? Well I plan to share all things that make me Beverly. My faith, food, culture, interests and what I am doing currently in this thing called life.
Son Grandes is the soul of what I aim for everyday. Some days I succeed and some days I fail.
Oh right. The backstory.
Well, Son Grandes was born out of a need for shoes during my first year in Nicaragua. My 27th birthday was coming up and I did not want to celebrate it shoeless. I searched from store to store with no luck. I wandered with aim and intention, eventually stopping at a store with an owner that was estatic to pull out all her size 11 shoes.
I proceeded to try on shoe after shoe. I got down to one that I was sure would be the winner. I walked over to the mirror to flaunt, only to see the heel of my shoe poking out like my discouraged hopes. Without warning, the shop owner says " SON GRANDES" (translated literally as they are so big). My friends and I burst out laughing. However, I was reminded quickly that I still have no shoes.
Her words kept replaying in my head long after. I realized that she was right. My feet are HUGE LOL!
However, so are my dreams, hopes, goals, personality, blessings and my GOD. I am great just because he is GREATER. So while I walked away with no shoes that day, I did gain perspective.
GREATER is the one that is living inside of me.
So there you have it folks. Welcome to SON GRANDES!!!
Ended up with borrowed shoes..but I didn't have to give back the smile :)
